PBEM - Episode 519. Orcs, Grimtooth, Mongrelman

FIVE HUNDRED NINETEEN

(I/C)

Brendon rubbed his face and looked around with a sigh. “Thank you lass for the assist. Remind me to give you wine later.” He picked up a spear to use and then put it back down, unslinging his bow instead.

Patting him on the back, Lyra indicated for him to stay here, “Atta boy,” and then reentered Mirabellis’ chamber, letting her sling unfurl and loading it with a stone. She kept a firm eye on the ghouls, not trusting them.

“Lil man!” The Scout called out, “I hope you still got it in you to keep your ghoulies in line. With all this blood on me I might be what’s next for dinner.”

Spinning his Theystran Hammer, Kovid shook his head and growled in his throat, “Come on you ghouls listen up!” (<Wis Check, Yellow 6! Finally!!). Both Ghouls, Mitch and Vincent, seemed to calm down a bit, head tilted to give the dwarf more of their attention as they continued to defend themselves from the Mongrelman. “’bout damned time,” he muttered. “Alright! Let’s kill this son of a bitch!”

The two undead screeched in glee and redoubled their attacks. Lannis had taken out Mirabellis’ spellbook and was thumbing through it looking for something near the back. Kovid joined the two ghouls and the three of them assaulted the Mongrelman. Wyn had his sword and shield out and was heading for one of the sleepers with Abraxas was laughing as he turned to face one of the singed but upright orcs just behind him. He gave the Orcish leader a wide eye through the doorframe and commented aloud, "Si amigos, Si!! Hacemos ese! La mierda tiene hit el fan!"

Vincent hit (Ghoul attack @ +2, >15, <3, <5) with an open handed slap on the Mongrelman’s face, talons leaving three lines across the brute’s cheek (1d3 Damage, Grey 2:1 Damage. <Save vs Paralyze, White 5 – finally failed!) but it was enough to creak the mongrelman’s joints, freezing them up, and finally paralyzing it!

This made it easier for Mitch (Ghoul attack @ +2, >12, >18, <7) to hit as well, sweeping claws and ripping hands drawing more blood from the weakening mongrelman (1d3 Damage, Black 1:1 Damage!..1d3 Damage, Green 3;2 Damage!!). It whimpered with each strike, eyes growing glassy and pitiful.

And that left it up to Kovid who grabbed his warhammer with both hands and swung (>+6 to hit, +2 dwarf, Yellow 20! Critical AGAIN! Max Damage d8+3 = 11 Damage and killed!!!), caving the brute’s skull in and sending brain matter blowing out the opposite side of its head. “And THAT’S how we do it!! Clang clang!!”

“Monsieur! Do not clang and de clang, oui?”

“Yeah man,” Lannis agreed, “Bad idea, ok?”

“You got it! I can sure as hell go for some roast beef after this fight is over!”

“Good idea!” Wyn walked up to one of the 3 sleeping orcs and plunged his sword into its back deep three times, “En dis one went wee wee wee… all de way ‘ome.” (and killed!!)

Abraxas traded blows with one of the 3 awakened orcs that had been burned, his Morrigaan Scythe taking advantage of its confusion and momentary lapse of being prepared (>+8 to hit, Blue 19), slashing deep through its midsection and then following it up with a spinning series of 6 lighter cuts that had the orc gasping in pain (1d8+4 Damage, Blue 6+4=10 Damage and killed!!) before he ripped out its throat and pitched it back to the floor. “Take that Piggies!”

Brendon, still staying far enough back, let an arrow fly across the room at Grimtooth (>+5 to hit, Red 19), striking the orcish leader deep in his forearm (1d6 Damage, Red 6). “Tag! You’re it!” he called out.

Feeling better about Kovid’s control of the ghouls, Lyra joined Brendon in his attack on Grimtoth and fired off her own sling stone at him (>+5 to hit, White 15), the rock bouncing off with a crack (1d3 Damage, White 4:2 Damage!).

And finally Lannis was finishing up reading his spell, fingers running across the pages as he read it, the words turning to fire and burning away. "Why is this page so sticky? I hope she was wearing gloves. HOLD PERSON! JUST YOU!" A pink burst of light scored out and slammed into the orcish ranger’s chest, Grimtooth turning his head aside and squinting (<Save vs spells, -2 penalty 1 target, Green 6)…and then staying just like that. Held in place!

Lannis clenched his fist in victory and yelped, “Yeah!” When he tried to uncurl his hand though, the finger tips briefly stuck to the pal of his hand. Looking at them and then the book’s surface, he frowned and muttered, "Wait…ew!"

(Initiative Party Steel 5 vs Enemy Red/Black 4)

Time now is Day 11, 4:45 PM
