FIVE HUNDRED FIVE
(I/C)
Lyra looked over the potions, lifting them up and peering through the glass. “Hey Golem, my dude. No one tampered with these bad boys, right?” She got a flash of contented purple from the Iron Statue and looked over the party. “They’re good.” She handed one to Abraxas and one to Kovid, taking a third for herself. She popped the top and drank it down (1d6 Healing Potion: White 3 – Heal 3!), sighing as her hurts faded.
"Que tenemos por potions, amigos? Dice mi que necessitamos y yo will get it." Abraxas drank his next (1d6 Healing Potion: Blue 5 – Heal 5!) also grinning. He picked up the last potion and put it in his pack for later (Add healing potion – 5 to Magic inventory)
Kovid was last (1d6 Healing Potion: Yellow 4 – Heal 4!), and he too felt better for the drink. “So,” he said, wiping his beard clean, “What's next on our list of trouble?"
The Scout positioned himself near the south door once more, propped up against it, listening, “If Lyra’s potion buddy could make an invisibility potion I’d appreciate it.”
“Um, sure,” she turned to the Statue, “Also do you know how to make any other potions? Invisibility or something?” She could feel a connection with the Statue and frowned, “I don’t think he knows.”
From the North door, Wyn sighed and suggested, “Priestess… Cen ye “ask” de golem what it cen make based on de available ingredients?”
Lannis meanwhile had taken out his Crystal Ball, making sure to be at the far end of the room from the Iron Statue, sitting in front of it and getting ready to scry.
“We asked last time I believe,” the Cleric said. “Wasn’t there a list of ingredients for potions somewhere?” she said looking around at the wall by the table.
The elf sighed again, “Maybe Offop knows?”
Lannis dug out his Alchemy book from his backpack and slid it on the floor towards Wyn. “You look it up, Slim Pickings. I can’t keep carrying the entire party.”
Pointing to the Crystal, Brendon suggested, “Lannis, why don’t you see where’s the ghouls are before we head out.”
“Wow, that’s great advice. I’ll be sure not to take it.” He pointed to the tome and then Wyn. “Get cracking, Jack-a-lacka.”
The elf picked up the book and started thumbing through it, “Oui oui… you are very smart en we be impressed. Cen ye just get to de point?”
“Find a recipe in there and go through it carefully with Princess Peach, stuck with us in this castle. Otherwise, shut up, I’m trying to do magic here.” She pointed to Lyra and said, “Tell Dragon Warrior over there to make healing potions. Healing fixes body stabbings, and my body is where my blood lives." With that he turned his attention firmly to the ball and began to concentrate.
As for the group, Wyn thumbed through the ponderous tome while Lyra, Kovid and Abraxas went through the shelves looking at the ingredients that were there. As before, there were some jars and boxes that had very little left in them, and others that looks lightly used. As for making sense of it (>Int check Alchemy, Orange 18) Wyn was frustrated at the terms and set up with the book as it was poorly laid out and didn’t have an easy way to navigate the spells and formula within. “Dis book is stupid, no wonder Offop seems to ‘ave the best result usin’ it.”
“I heard that,” Lannis replied, still studying the Crystal.
At the very minimum, the party was able to come up with a better idea what reagents were still available, something they hoped Lannis could help them with when he was done with the Ball.
And speaking of the ball, after 10 minutes (<Int Check, Pink 15), Lannis smiled and said, “And we’re…good! Coming in to…Grimtooth.”
“Is he in de Throne Room still?”
“Looking around…Nope. He’s not there.”
“Where is he?” Kovid asked.
“I see, wall…big room, panning around. Ah! Chapel..Er..fuck you Lyra, Sanctuary. Sanctuary. I can see the statue of the big magic bitch that hit me with her stone titty lying on the side. And he’s not alone. Other orcs are with him.”
“Are they prepared to meet us?” Lyra asked.
“Doesn’t seem to be. Some beds have been dragged here, mattresses and cots. Got a pot and cook area. Some boxes and water barrels. I’d say, they are using the room as their base of operations.”
“So de throne room is clear den!” Wyn smiled.
“Hang on,” Lannis spun the glass and pulled his fingers wide. “I can see maybe…5 other orcs, still missing 4? Ish? And whoa…that’s different!”
“What?”
“Ah…one of those Mongrelmen, remember from outside the Castle? It’s in here with the orcs.”
“How’d it get in?”
Lannis shrugged. “Either the ward fell and we’re totally fucked, or Grimdenture recruited it before the ward went up. We know he went up and down a few times before he erected the ward.”
“How big?”
“Hard to tell. 9 feet? Has a lobster claw for one muscle-y hand, face looks like a squashed german shepherd’s, and damn, he’s got a lot of teeth.”
“Fan fucking tastic,” Kovid grinned, swinging his Hammer. “That means he’ll fall down faster.”
“Sure, that’s what it means.” Lannis squinted, “Getting dark here, but I think the north door is open. Can’t see for sure, but the rest of the orcs might be across the hall in Mirabellis’ old room…and fuck it. That’s over.” He lifted his head and blinked hard. “Ok. That strained the brain a bit.” He waved his hand to Wyn, “Give me the book, Toffee, I’ll get what we need out of it.”
Time now is Day 11, 2:45 PM
