Standing in front of the south door, the Dwarf glanced to his left seeing the murderous statues and the zombie kobolds bottlenecking the eastern door. "Brendon, how does that south door look? We have to go now!"
Running his sword into one of the sleeping kobolds and then slapping his hand in the bleeding wound, Brendon yelled back, “There’s too much noise in here for me to tell, just go!” running to the north wall, hand waving to smear some message there, the chest from Grilljax’ chair still tucked under his arm.
Lannis was waving his hand, summoning a wave of magic when Lyra stepped right behind Kovid, “I’m right here, Let’s do this.” Abraxas had Jowass on his shoulders and Wyn was fireman carrying Grilljax.
Grabbing the handle and pulling the door open,m Kovid saw a small landing and then a set of stairs going down into the gloom, some cool air rushing up at him. He caught some movement out of the corner of his eye (Surprise check: Red/Black 2 – Surprised!) and noticed there was a door on the west wall open.
And a kobold was there. With a glass vial in its hand cocked back ready to throw. And there was 4 more kobolds behind it, with slings twirling.
And Kovid was there.
“GOWAN SUKIHT!” it screamed and hurled the vial at the dwarf (>+1 to hit, Black 14) where it shattered on the dwarf’s platemail, but NOT his skin, and green caustic slime began to spread and eat the center of his breastplate (Dissolve steel in 1d6 rounds: Red/Black 3 – 3 rounds to remove armor before slime gets on dwarf).
Followed by 4 kobolds screaming, “Sukiht!” and letting their weapons fly (>+1 to hit, Green 19..>+1 to hit, Steel 17..<+1 to hit, Steel 3..>+1 to hit, Teal 19) where 4 sling stones cracked out – and three of them impacted the dwarf and his steaming breastplate (1d3 Damage: Green 6 – Take 3 Damage, Steel 4 – Take 2 Damage, Speckled 5 – Take 3 Damage). Kovid staggered from the impact

Lannis’ Pause spell finally went off as the first statue finally cleared the door (Save vs Spells, Red/Black 8 – Failed!) and then…stopped, stone sword at the ready and just standing there. The other statue behind it was struggling to clear the fleeing zombies away and push its brethren aside but with little luck.
“GO!!”
(Initiative 2nd Kobold group: Party Steel 3 vs Kobold Red/Black 5).
Four more sling bullets cracked out at Kovid who was still in the door, chest smoking, green slime spreading across the platemail. (<+1 to hit, Red/Blue 4..<+1 to hit, Red/Grey 3..>+1 to hit, Blue/Purple 17..<+1 to hit, Red/Grey 3) Many of them bounced around the dwarf, but another one cracked into him with punishing force (1d3 Damage: White/Pink 3 – Take 2 Damage). And then the same kobold who had thrown the vial at him screamed “Gowan Sukiht!” again and slammed the door closed, where the group heard the sound of a bar slamming down on the other side.
“Don’t touch it!” Lyra cried out as Kovid looked around frantically. Meanwhile Lannis was howling, “Go! Go! They spell wont last forever dammit!” Abraxas and Wyn both dispatched another kobold sleeping each and them cajoled the dwarf to run. “Go! Vamanos! Downstairs when we can, we’ll get armor off!”
Brendon finished writing on the wall in kobold blood in goblin, “Dis be our MurDur place die litll oogly koblods!” as the statues were struggling to get through the door, the pause spell winding down.
The group made their way down the stairs, Brendon slamming the door closed behind him as the statues finally entered the room, the side door with the kobolds was closed and there was laughter on the other side of it. At the base of the stairs, the air was cool and the passage went to the west to the end of the lantern light where a set of stairs going up could be seen but the outside wall of the castle had collapsed here, burying the steps in tons of rubble and making them impassable – it was also where the cool air was coming from. To the east was a door, currently closed.

Kovid has a minute and a half to remove the armor before the slime gets through and on his skin. He needs help, 1 or 2 people with a short sword or dagger to cut the straps and let the armor fall. Wyn is carrying Grilljax, Brendon is carrying the chest, Abraxas is carrying the alive and held Jowass. The statues will have to break down the next door to get to us. And there are 5 kobolds behind a closed and barred door, 4 with slings and 1 (Gowan) who had at least 1 green slime vial – and maybe more.
We had a partial surprise action against us, then the new kobolds went on their initiative and we went afterwards.
Time is ticking – what to do?
