PBEM, Episode 84 - Slime, Food, Night 2

EIGHTY FOUR

(I/C)
The group decided to fill up some of their packs with food and the discussion went on about taking more.

Kovid recommended, "I recommend leaving the rest of the meat here now that we have "the key"”, patting Brendon on the shoulder. “We can come and go as we like as long as we're quiet about it, but the decision is up to the group. I've marked the map with the names of the locations we've been to, so refer to those names when choosing a location."

"Señor, er um, Monsieur Dwarf. Ha!” Wyn laughed, “Now Salazar 'as me sayin' de señors... Monsieur Dwarf, cen you fill your large sack wit dis meat, s'il vous plaît? No double entendre meant... just don't 'ave anodder way to say dat. We cen stick it in de bolt room, 'idden away."

Lyra gave the meat a sniffed and shrugged. “Let’s just make sure whatever we take is from the back of an inconspicuous spot. Just in case the goblins come in for food it doesn’t look like a ton was taken.”

Taking Lyra’s advice to heart, Lannis busted out two small sacks and proceeded to load up both of them from a little in each crate, Kovid doing the same with the larger sack. "Probably best not to push our luck,” the Magic User said, “finding this food was quite the surprise, no sense in walking into an ambush or something, let's go back"

"What a haul amigos! Quickly, let's fill up and leave! Now's a good time to shelter up and rest for the evening. Vamonos!"

Once everyone had taken their fill (Kovid, Lyra, and Lannis – add 2 days IRON RATIONS, Abraxas, Brendon, and Wyn ass 6 days IRON RATIONS. Lannis – remove 2 small sacks from inventory (each sack is holding 8 days of food). Kovid remove 1 large sack from inventory (sack is holding 24 days of food)), Brendon walked the room, sweeping the grit on the floor with base of his cloak, and repositioning the food on top of the crates to make it look undisturbed.

After that, we all went to the hall and the scout spent a minute relocking the door, and then testing it to make sure he can open it again (no problem!). We then went back down the hall to the end of the hall, making sure to not disturb the ritual of arrows and snakes Lannis had set up, and then turned south.

We walked slowly back to the Sitting Room and then went off to the Ballista Room where Abraxas forced the door open and we hid the 3 bags of food near the weapon and under the chainmail we had stashed there. (WMC: Red/Black 4)

We then walked back to the North East hall, and made our way slowly down the long hall, past the library and the kitchen (listening  and no roll – all good!), made it to the door to the east, took that down to the Barracks hall and then turned south to the door, passed through and worked down the stairs (shutting the doors behind us) with slow care and weapons ready to the CATACOMBS.

From there we then travelled across to the Ishtari Rooms where Abraxas and Kovid dragged the now stinking and smelly Ape further away from the door and then entered the CABINET ROOM, finally relaxing.

“I still wanna give the steamed weasel a taste!” Brendon said, dropping his backpack and stretching.

“Oui! Let’s go check.”

“Let’s all eat,” Kovid suggested, taking out his own food and sitting down. While the group ate their rations and drank their water (everyone remove ½ days of water (drank extra full at lunch, adjusted it then) and 1 day standard rations) Wyn brought in the skinned and warmed and wet oddly colored ferret. Using a dagger he cut pieces of the meat off where the group tasted it, making nodding faces, and then one by one, opting NOT to taste a second offering.

“Ok, I’ve tried it!” Brendond clapped his hands once. “I’m done with that!”

“Well, I guess if we were hungry, and there was no other food, and we were starving, and it was steamed ferret or nothing…I would still not be sure if I would eat it.” Abraxas sighed. “I can really use a piece of cake, Senor Lannis.”

While the group was wrapping up their dinner, Lyra suddenly leaned forward and squinted as if in pain. (=Save vs Death Ray +4, White 7) “Ugh, again?”

“Madame Lyra,” Wyn shook his head, “It has been about an hour.”

Once more (now the 4th time) Lyra has felt an disruption and foulness as conduited through Aine, a distaste that she can feel. After a minute or two it did pass and she relaxed. “I think tomorrow we hunt down Grilljax and make him stop whatever it is he is doing.”

“Ok,” Lannis stretched. “Are we staying here? And if so, what about watch?” He glanced down, leaning over. “Shows that’s its 5:12 below. Same as before, 2 people per watch, 4 hours of watch? That means the middle two get no spells or healing.”

Time now is 5:12
