PBEM - Episode 425. Great Goblin Battle and Fire.

It was going to happen at some point - we had our first unsavable death. Lannis, the mouthy Magic User, died this turn. The party was sufficiently overwhelmed and surprised. Cleric has 2 Raise Deads, but I treat them as a casting time of 1 turn - so they can't raise someone on the fly. And the combat is still going on!

FOUR HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE

(I/C)

Looking down the hall, Wyn lifted his sword, motioning to Lyra, “Ooo Priestess, de fighters look pretty rough... cen ye go help dem while we take out deze sleepers? We meet you down dere in a minute after we coup de grace deze idiots.”

“Sounds great,” she said. “Be careful!”

“Don’t tell us what to do,” Lannis barked at her, working another spell, “We won’t throw a shoe or anything.”

Laughing uproariously, Abraxas charged into the Sitting Room, Scythe held up high, racing to get to the crossbow goblin before he could reload. "¡Jajajajajajajajaja,ElLoboEsElUltimoPorTusPendejos! Jajajajajajaja.” As he ran, hasted and pumped, the goblin in the doorframe tried to stop him (Free attack, <+0 to hit, White 1 – Fumble! 1-2 lose weapon, 3-4 stunned 1 round, 5-6 hurt self, White 3 – stunned 1 round!) but Abraxas shoulder checked him into the stone door frame where he struck it head first and wobbled back, aching and dizzy from the impact. “VenAquiTuCuerpaVerdeMierdo. ¡EsElTiempoPorTuAMorir!" The Fighter swung at the goblin standing on the chair, Morrigaan Scythe slashing and ripping (>+8 to hit, Blue 15) as the goblin tried to pedal backwards and avoid being hit (1d8+4 Damage, Blue 4+4=8 Damage and killed!). However a rip across the chest and a 2’ tear down to the bone in the greenskin’s left thigh had it pitch off and land with a bloody crash.

Abraxas then whipped out his stone dagger and hurled it sideways and backwards at the goblin that had been stunned in the doorway (>+4 to hit, +2 stunned, Blue 17), the heavy chipped blade burying itself into the greenskin’s side, passing through its ribs (1d4 Damage, Blue 4).

Meanwhile Kovid could see the two goblin’s that Abraxas had bowled over with the wolf and had a great idea. Already holding the door up, the dwarf lifted it higher over his head, rocked back a step, and then ran forward, the door gaining momentum as he passed through the opening. “Here fellas!” he called out mirthfully, “Hold this for me. It’s real heavy!” he then DROPPED the heavy wooden portal on both of the greenskins…and JUMPED ontop of the door, leaping up and down (Flat roll: Yellow 11 – 1 damage to each gob and trapped another round!), hearing them groan and moan in pain. “Hahahah!”

Brendon was looking around and then muttered, “fuck it.” He went to the nearest fallen goblin, turned it over and quickly looked it over for anything of value.

“What the hell?” Lannis asked with a frown. “Now?”

“We’re on borrowed time,” Brendon replied, cutting the belt pouch away. “Orcs – remember?” He pointed back down the hall.

“You are a real piece of shit, you know that?” He was still finishing his spell. “You do know the Big and Wide section are still missing in action, is it really the time for that? Maybe we can scout the dead bodies later?" Lannis finished up his spell, “IN BET GRAV!” and a pink dart tore down the hall past Lyra and hit the stunned goblin in the doorway with the knife in his side (1d4 Damage, Pink 3 and killed!!). “Once more, I am the MVP of this group.”

“Whatever,” he went to the next body and did the same. “I’d love to be see Grimtooths face when he finds out what we did now. It would be epic if he had a heart attack in his fit of anger.

Wyn knelt by the sleeping wolf and positioned his Alha short blade over its chest. Whispering low, he said, “Pardon, Monsieur Loup. Notin personal... you just be backin de wrong team.” And then thrust the blade down, killing the lupine.

Lyra was charging up, hoping to get to Abraxas in time, a sketchy looking goblin woman with a sharp looking short blade was blocking her path. The Cleric dodged right and ran on (Free attack, <+0 to hit, Black 1 – Fumble!! Again – lol. 1-2 lose weapon, 3-4 stunned 1 round, 5-6 hurt self, White 6 – 1 pt damage!), and when the goblin tried to stab her, Lyra blocked it with her shield and then slapped the goblin on the top of her head with her weapon. “Sorry girl! Got no time for you!” Lannis snickered at the greenskin as the Cleric ran on, making her growl back at the wizard.

“Oh, Really?” He snorted. “Did I hurt your fee-fees? Ugh, Loser.”

Lyra ran up to Kovid and muttered, “Aine... what the hell happened to you two??”

“Tell me about it,” the Dwarf muttered, still jumping up and down on the fallen door.

Lyra made the turn finally, ran up to Abraxas, and said, “Made it! Aine, Goddess, let’s get a long tern continuous heal over here for my good friend please!” (Continuous Heal, 5 turns of 1d4+1 heal – White 4+1=5 = Heal 5 Damage!) A white nimbus glow settled on the wounded Fighter, easing his aches and scabbing over some of the smaller wounds he was sporting. “That should keep you going,” she said.

“GraciasSenora!”

“What else you green shits got?” Kovid barked out. The goblin that had been the furthest away drew his sword and closed to hit the dwarf (<+0 to hit, Yellow 6), but couldn’t get a solid blow.

Which left only the lone goblin in the hall. She shifted her weapon to her other hand and ran up, spitting in broken Common, “Lannis Sucks!” (=+0 to hit, White 18) She drove her weapon straight through the wizard’s ensorcelled shield with a faint crackle, centered the blade at the base of the “V” of his open necked robe, and plunged it through Lannis’ heart until the blade poked through the other side and he made a strange “Urk!?” noise (1d6 Damage, Yellow 6 – and killed! Like really killed! At -4 – and dead!!!).

She rode him backwards to the ground where he fell a few feet from Wyn, the magic user’s face one of surprise and pain in his death. “Ha!” The goblin choked in a single laugh. She snatched his oversized pink hat off his head, put it on hers, And brandished her blade at Wyn. “Mine!”

“Merde!”

(Initiative, Party Steel 3 vs Enemy Red/Black 6)

She ran at the three Wyns, hoping to get past to the hall beyond, shouting as loud as she could, “GRIMTOOTH!!! GRIM!!!!” while slashing with her blade (>+0 to hit, White 15), popping another of Wyn’s images away – leaving the elf with a single duplicate left. “She’s kilt de Lannis!” Wyn defended himself, “An she be tres crazy!”

As for the last goblin in the hall, it changed its attack pattern on the dwarf who was balancing on the door and scored a very lucky stab (>+0 to hit, Green 19) that caught the dwarf in the weak part of the platmail right at his waist. The blade punched through, into Kovid’s guts, and when the goblin drew it free, a welter of blood followed (1d6 Damage, Blue 5 – Take 5 Damage! Kovid at 1 HP!!!). “Dats what I gots!” the goblin snarled back at Kovid.

Time now is Day 10, 7:37

(OOC)

Haste – 25 minutes

Wyn Mirror Image – 1 image remaining

Enemy had 2 fumbles. 2 trapped under the door for this round at least. 1 fighting Kovid who is ONE HIT POINT. One fighting Wyn at the end of the hall, the same one that killed Lannis and is shouting her head off to attract wandering monsters. Lannis – you are dead. You have 7 days to be brought back from dead via the scrolls Lyra has (which will also consume one of the 5,000 crown diamonds). Bottom of the round – you guys go!
