PBEM - Episode 409. Hoots, Webs, Haste, and Fire

FOUR HUNDRED NINE

(I/C)

Lannis was pointing at the dead Brendon on the floor and the rampaging bear and owlbear at the corner, eyes wide, hat flapping, stomping his feet in exasperation. "I'm not saying I was right buuuuuuuuuuuuut...... I was! Right Brendon?"

Wyn had slung his bow across his shoulders and was waving his hands in readiness for a spell. “Dis doesn’t prove notin Offop! We would ‘Ave come dis way to go up de stairs anyway.”

Still gesturing, Lannis started casting a spell with his other hand. "Do you guys see what happens?!

“Too many fucking bears!” Lyra exclaimed. “Get me his body, before she rips his guts out.”

“I cen stop dem fer a few rounds...,” Wyn offered, “Dwarf, cen you get du Lac away so Priestess cen heal him?”

“You don’t listen to me,” Lannis continued, wrapping up his spell. “We go to look at bugs. And now? There’s a shitload of Bears, Owls, and Owlbears! Hey Booboo, PAUSE!” Lannis fired his spell off at the she-bear (>Save vs spells, Pink 15), where it bounced off of her and broke apart. “I called it!” he complained.

Ducking under Hoot’s swipe, Kovid gave up defending himself long enough to shoulder the she-bear off of Brendon and drag the Scout away from immediate danger (Free attack: 1-3 Owlbear, 4-6 Shebear: Red/Black 2 – Hoots. @ Brendon 1-2, or Kovid 3-6. Blue 6 – Kovid. <+7 to hit, Red/Black 3), getting buffeted but no real damage for his efforts. “Hang on young Master, I’ve gotcha. You’ve been spending a little too much time on your back lately.”

He pulled, handing the dying Brendon back to Lyra who gripped him by the ankles and yanked. “How many times in one day are you going to die Brendon?” She slapped a hand over his crushed ribs and called on Aine to heal him (CLW: 1d6+1, White 3+1= Heal 4!).

Brendon drew in a deep inhale, eyes rolling back forward again, and gasped twice as he tried to quell the pain. “Thank you Lass,” he rasped, “and everyone that made this possible.”

“I hear your thanks, Slimjim,” Lannis answered back, “But I'll also be expecting some apologies."

Abraxas had taken out his potion of Haste, looked at its contents briefly and then popped the top, snarling at the Owlbear. "Round Dos, eh Señor Hoots? Si quieres una lucha, que soy listo. Hagámoslo." He then tilted it back, drinking the effervescent potion down, and swallowed – feeling a buzzing fizz spreading out from the center of his gut.

Meanwhile Wyn took advantage of the momentary cleared area in front of the group and shouted out, “IN ARACHNE REIF!” A spreading cone of sticky webs blasting out and choking the corner end of the hall, covering Hoots and the Shebear and for the time being, stopping them in their tracks. “Moving out of de way now, Senor Salazar!” He announced as he looked back to see Abraxas was flushed red, his limbs moving jerkily, and ripples running up and down his body.

(Shebear trapped 2d4 rounds: 2+2 = 4 rounds. Hoots trapped 1d4 rounds: 1 round)

(Initiative, Party Steel 3 vs Bears Red/Black 1)

Time now is Day 10, 6:12 AM

(OOC)

Alright! Party is VERY set up for this round. The rounds of trapping starts now – so Hoots is NOT out until the end of this round – he will not attack on his step of initiative unless someone closes to short range melee range (club/short sword, etc.. a Scythe is NOT a short melee range weapon, so Abraxas is ok to hack through the webs.). Normally hacking through the webs I’d say would also shorten the webbing effectiveness, but it will have no effect since the time trapped is only a round and Hoots is still screwified for this round. Let me know what everyone’s plan is – whether is assault or beat feet. Or a combo of the two.
