PBEM - Episode 420. Great Goblin Battle and Fire.

Fighter with a total +8 to hit fighting goblins while under a haste effect with a dwarf backup sporting a +6 on his to hit, was running roughshod over the encounter even though they were cut off.

FOUR HUNDRED TWENTY

(I/C)

Trying to shove his way to the front, Wyn tried to advise Lannis, “Monsieur Offop, iffin you have a protective spell fer yer self, now might be a good time fer it!”

"No fucking shit, Glorfindel,” the Magic User responded, going through his spell as quickly as possible, “I thought I'd just take the rest of the fight off after exploding whatever the fuck his name was back there. KAL MULTOS EGO!!" The air around him shifted and there was an outrushing of air as (1d4 copies: Pink 3) three duplicates of Lannis appeared, obfuscating where the magic user actually was.

“Worst spell ever,” Lyra moaned as the 4 Lannis’s all turned to give her the finger.

"Heal me you Carriagelsss Equine,” He hissed at her. Raising his voice he tried to intimidate the goblins in the area, “Did you see what I did to that guy? Did you see that? One step closer and I'll blow you up next!"

Also pushing her way forward, flail swinging, Lyra added, “You heard the little pink man! Heads are going to start exploding next. I’d rethink your loyalty!” She then lowered her voice and growled back at the wizard, “Going to have to keep your knickers up, tall, pale, and sickly. Not healing just yet.”

Taking the busted arrow from the back of the hall, Brendon shoved it through the hole and made a “BWANNNG” noise like a bowstring firing. He then stepped south, nocked a new arrow and took aim down the dim hallway, “Good thing we’re near the bath, Doc is La Machining the gobs in the room.” He then fired at the goblin easiest to hit, the one fighting Lyra (>+6 to hit, Red 9). The arrow struck deep (1d6 Damage, Red 3), and hard enough to cause the goblin to falter in its attack, gasping in pain.

Meanwhile Wyn had his shield up and bounded up on the wall, hoping to slam it at the goblin closest to Lannis (>BX Baby -2 Str, Shield bash drive back goblin, Orange 17 – no) but couldn’t get the momentum going enough to achieve what he wanted. He did take the place of the wizard and multiple copies though, and did his best to engage the closest two (<+5 to hit, Orange 2) but was having no luck for all his efforts.

Lyra worked the Lolthian Flail hard on the wounded goblin, the heavy flanged head cracking into the spear wielding greenskin enough times (>+4 to hit, White 17) to break flesh and then ultimately shatter bones (1d6+2 Damage, White 1+2=3 Damage and killed), the goblin keening loudly as it fell over dying. “Aine says, Stay Down!”

From inside the blocked room, Abraxas and Kovid were plying Warhammer and Scythe on the last of the closest goblins, the dwarf able to give the full output of his attention to the fight now that his face and eyes were clear enough for him to function (>+6 to hit, Yellow 10). The Theystran Hammer churned back and forth at the original goblin who had knocked the wedge free, first slamming it back to the north wall, and then going to town on him with three..four..five solid blows that broke something internally and had the beast slump to the ground very very dead (1d8+3 Damage, Yellow 7+3=10 Damage and killed!)

"EstoyTenerElMejorTiempoDeMiVida. MasSlashes,MasBashes,MasMasMas!” Abraxas was almost crying with joy as the haste potion powered the Fighter through a series of attacks that were too dizzy to track with the naked eye (>+8 to hit, Blue 17..>+8 to hit, Blue 11). “Jajajajajajajajajajajajajaj!” He laughed long and loud as his first blows tore the guts out of the goblin with the short sword, (1d8+4 Damage, Blue 7+4=11 damage and killed!!) guts flying through the air as it spun about and died. “RapidoSeñorKindred!” he said as he pivoted to the next, “NecessitamosHacerTodosLosGobsMuerto!" the silver weapon shredded the goblin’s throat before he hooked it from behind and face panted it on the floor, cleaving its spine (1d8+4 Damage, Blue 5+4=9 Damage and killed!!) and then turning to the barrier next.

“You’re hard enough to understand without the juice potion, Big A,” Kovid said with a grin, flinging the gore off his hammer. “I have no idea what you’re on about but keep going buddy.”

The two goblins on the perches at this time jumped back behind the barrier and the two men were about to step forward when the barriers all lifted slightly and oil…lots and lots of oil, spilled out from underneath, moved in a wave in their direction, and hit a few of the candles that had been placed in front of the barrier.

“Fire!” came the goblin cry as a sheet of flame roared up and consumed the entire midsection of the chamber, the blast of outrushing hot air hitting the two men (Save vs Death Ray. >Kovid Yellow 20..<Abraxas Blue 1..1d6 Damage, half if saved. Red/Black 6 – Kovid take 3, Abraxas take 6).

“Holy shit!” Kovid exclaimed and swung the dying goblin he was fighting in front of him just in time, blocking some of the blast of flame, but Abraxas took the full brunt. The two of them were smoking and trailing small fires on the edge of the cloaks. The flames were over 5 feet tall and filled the entire area in front of the barriers but were crawling westward in their direction as the oil continued to spill out from behind the barrier, spreading about the floor. From behind the barriers, they could hear goblin laughter and cries of “Burn!!”

(Hallway Morale: 1+4=5 – stay and fight)

The goblin that Wyn had bashed with the shield took on the elf with a number of short thrusts (<+0 to hit, White 15) but caught more armor and bruises than any actual real cuts. On hearing the cackling from the hall behind him from the greenskin with the Spinner, he disengaged, stepping back two steps to clear the hall.

And just in time as the goblin was coming out reaching full velocity, the ball and chain spinning wildly overhead as it tried to drive the heavy weapon into Wyn’s face. However, it misjudged where the corner was and (>+4 to hit Spinner, Black 1 – Fumble! 1-2 lose weapon, 3-4 hurt self, 5-6 stun. Green 5 – stun) the steel ball SMACKED the corner, rebounded from the hit, and clocked the goblin in the side of the head, pitching it to the back corner where it slumped against the wall, holding its skull with its free hand and hoping to get its bearing back again.

“See that?!” Lannis said, “Goblin made stuff. Imagine using the gauntlet with that sort of effect. Pretty sure it would make your dick fall off.”

The last goblin from the hall ran past the spinner, mumbling to the stunned greenskin, “Get up! You’re embarrassing us!” It then gave a cry and charged at Wyn, spear stabbing out as it sought to keep the elf away from the stunned goblin (>+0 to hit, Green 18). He did catch Wyn hard, briefly driving the air from his lungs after a solid shot to the gut (1d6 Damage, Pink 2 – Take 2 Damage!) but the elf knocked the spear wielder back with a hard shield thrust and was able to draw breath again.

The last 2 gobs in the back of the hall each drew their slings and the rearmost one told the other, “Take aim at any of the Sucky ones!” And both of them let their stones fly (<+1 to hit, Green 11..=+1 to hit, Green 14), one of them hitting Lannis and bouncing away, the other clocking him in the left shoulder…and one of his images disappeared, leaving 2 besides him.

And from down the hall, we could hear more goblins from elsewhere in the complex of room finally arrive – along with the barking howl of wolves.

(Initiative 3 vs 3 – tie reroll..Party Steel 4 vs Enemy Red/Black 1 – 4th straight initiative win in a row for you guys.)

Time now is Day 10, 7:32

(OOC)

Haste – 30 minutes

Resist Fire – 18 minutes

Spinner fumbled – loser. 4 more gobs and 2 wolves are in the long hall the gobs have been coming out of now. Abraxas and Kovid – fire is going to spread in your direction at either 5 or 10’ during the course of the round (random roll). You can try and force the door open, or can try and run around the fire to get to the back end of the room.
