PBEM - Episode 563. Tubs and Tactics and Prep and Ding!!

This was the last possible place to get enough xp for the group to hit that 25k number to get the Cleric to go up. Lair treasure and things like the fountain I had left up to random rolls. But this is it, they made it - next stop - through the door and Corfard! Oh, for those wondering - She took Remove Fear, Striking, and CSW. :)

Follows:

FIVE HUNDRED SIXTY THREE

(I/C)

“Here… goes… Wyn…” the elf said slowly as he flew out of the room, dented mug in his gloved hands.

Meanwhile Abraxas charged two more of the three undamaged Archer Bushes and fought through their branches to grab at them. "Por el tiempo ultimo, amigos! Meet a el fountain. Señor Langus, puedes tus deal con el bush ultimo?" He pointed at the burned archer bush, the arboreal menace beginning to move once again after the party.

“I’m on it,” Lannis said, taking out a flask of oil and readying his candle. Kovid meanwhile kept the third one back, shoving his torch at it when it tried to cross the pathway.

The Fighter struggled (>+7 to hit grapple, -2 double, +1 bless, Blue 13…>+7 to grapple, -2 double, +1 bless, Blue 17) to get a grip on both of them, reaching far into their interior until he managed to snag the main trunk. They both gyrated like mad (=Free Hit +3, +4 grappled, Black 11…<Free hit +2, +4 grappled, Black 10) one of shoving its thorny crown again and again into Abraxas’ neck, chin, and cheek (1d4 Damage, Blue 3).

He lifted, dragged, and pulled them (Combative Str check: Teal 1: perfect (under 17) vs Red/Black 13, +2 help (over 1)), making good time towards the doorway. Wyn flew in just before he passed through heading out and south to the tub, the elf bee lining as he flew towards the one Kovid was threatening. “Go… to… sleep…little… bush,” he said and poured the contents of the mug on top of it, killing it.

Meanwhile at the last Archer Bush, Lannis poured his oil on top of it and set the candle within its center, whispering, “Fire it up.” (>+1 to hit, Pink 17) It freaked out and began to shake as the flames raced within (1d6 Damage, Pink 4 and killed!!) and something cracked deep inside.

And then it’s top exploded (>+3 to hit, White 11 (Mimage). Luckily, the spinning thorns only tore through the image of Lannis and not the real one, popping his last mirror image. The rest of the group was too far away and were spared the direct hit of the racing thorns.

(New: Red/Black 1)

Dusting off his hands, Kovid looked around the wreckage of the garden, eyes settling on the fountain. "Before heading in, maybe popping growth potion could help me mitigate the boulder traps Big Brain saw. How are we doing this?"

The gathering silence gave the party a sense of hope. Abraxas came back in, striding up to Kovif and Brendon, giving them both solid claps on their shoulder. “Bueno! Señor Korgus, puedes ayuda Señor Brengus con miran el puerto con el trap? O perhaps start counting y gathering los coins y los gems por el Bag de Holding? Señora Lyrangus,” He asked the Cleric, “puedes pass algun healings a el grupo? Se que puedo usar una healing o dos, jajajaja.”

“Nice job boys.” She said with a smile. “You’re all almost competent. Reward time.”

“Señor Wyngless... tu...  haces tu. Hacemos amigos, estamos circa el finito. Hacemos!" He started to look in the fountain, Wyn and Kovid helping.

Brendon headed south to the ornate door and sighed deep, looking it over, hoping to find a way to both find and remove the trap they knew was on the other side. “Poseidon I need you now more than ever.”

Lyra began by healing herself. “Aine, let’s get one for me please?” (CLW 1d6+1. White 2+1=3  - Heal 3!!) Some of her aches faded. She then turned to Kovid, the party was already frowning as they were scooping up and out many…MANY coins. “Aine, Summer Goddess, another one for my friend Kovid here, if you don’t mind?” (CLW 1d6+1. White 6+1=7 – Heal 7!!) He looked remarkably better after that. “Thanks, Goddess!”

Lannis was looking around the room slowly, spotting a bit of moss close to the door, that he was sure had not been there earlier. “Kovid, I would like to borrow your torch a moment please.”

“Go right ahead, Big Brain,” the dwarf replied, still counting as he pulled out handfuls of gold coins and gems.

“Thank you.” Lannis walked over to the moss ball that was indeed growing, getting larger and larger. “Curious,” he said, looking closer. “But you are certainly trying real hard to come at us again.” He pressed the torch against it and it hissed, smoked, and popped a bit before ceasing to grow and burning away. “Good for you. Everyone needs to try to better themselves.” He continued to look around the room, but here to for, no other moss was growing and no archer bushes were apparent.

“And Aine,” Lyra finished, hands on Abraxas. “One more here. Give us a Continuous Heal please. He’s going to need it.” (Cont Heal 1d4+1 every turn for 5 turns on the “4’s”: White 3+1=4 – Heal 4!). “And there we go!”

As the party was counting up the serious amount of coins in the fountain, Brendon was looking over the door, trying to find anything he could use. But if it hadn’t been seen in the Crystal Ball, he would never know the door might have a trap on it. “Damn it,” he said, moving back to the group. “Nothing. I can’t see nothing. If there is a deadfall in there, first person in is going to get it. I would imagine the dragon would just use his tail spikes or claws and cut the cable when he wants and wham, net full of stones come down on someone.”

“It’s ok,” Lyra said, “We’re going to make sure we are potioned up and ready.” She was looking over the gems and gold, frowning. “I feel really….strange. You know? Good even.”

“Let’s keep counting!”

(Treasure Type “A”: Copper 66% =- no. Silver 71% - no, Gold 01% - yes 2-12k. 5+2=7,8,1,5. Platinum 38% - no. Gems 32% - yes. 3-18. 5,4,2=11. Random value: 50,500,10,50,50,50,10,1000,50,500,50)

At the end of 10 minutes of gathering and counting (Continuous Heal: 1d4+1 = Blue 2+1=3 = Heal 3!!) The party had swept 7,815 gold pieces and 11 gem stones valued at 2,320 gold as per Brendon.

“Now, we ready to go in?” Lyra asked with a smile, seeming more confident (Ding!)
