PBEM - Episode 316. Bedrooms and Adepts

Duchess, the 6th level thief, has been hunting the group, hoping to collect the 250 gold crown bounty Corfard offered his remaining lieutenants for killing one of the party, 500 gold crown for capturing the elf. She's smart, has a number of potions at her finger tips, and has some support from the overlooked members of Corfard's castle denizens. She's a dangerous foe and has a few plans and ideas on trying to get the party.

(I/C)

“Hang on!” Brendon called out. “Let me just flip this off…didn’t we shut the door?”

“What?” Kovid called out. “A little busy over here!”

“Hang on,” the Scout said, dropping the chair he had picked up to block the blow from the Adept. He curled up a little, planted his feet, and tried to shove the table off of him, but the Adept that had dropped it on him, spat out, “Oh no, Pink one! Stay like a turtle on its back!” (>Str check, -2 penalty trapped, -3 penalty Adept on table, Red 6 – no) It jumped on the end of the table, making Brendon groan under the extra weight while the standing Adept made the attempt to grab another item from the floor to use to bash the Scout to death.

Lannis was tapping around with his staff. “If I tap you, tell me you know me, ok!”

“Hey Priestesse,” Wyn called out, “I know you just got stabbed by dat putain goblin over dere, but if I don’t kill dis adept, cen you help me finish off?”

“You got it, Wyn!” She called out, giving the greenskin at her back a deep glower.

“I will tear your liver out an’ feed it to you if you don’t go back to dat corner and shut up!” the elf threatened.

"By Thor, you kill that little green snot, Lyra!” Kovid asserted, hitting the same wounded Salamander that was close to him and Abraxas. “We still got too many frogs to deal with."

“Corfard take you!”

“Thor take you!” and he swung hard (<+6 to hit, Yellow 10), striking the Adept but the humanoid’s armor rang out from the impact, absorbing the entirety of the blow. “Ok, I need to make a swap somewhere. Did I piss someone off?”

"Trabajamos together amigos. Take them out one at a time. Focus your attacks. No wounding, just killing!" Abraxas joined in with Kovid hitting the same Adept, taking advantage of it dodging around the dwarf’s assault (>+7 to hit, Blue 13) and slamming his scythe deep and hard (1d8+4 Damage: Blue 5+4=9 Damage and killed!), splitting the Salamander open and dropping it in a wash of greenish red blood.

“Huzzah!” The Dwarf cheered, already looking for the next target.

Wyn wove a wall of dancing steel (>+4 to hit, Orange 17), cutting, pricking, and slicing at the Adept he was facing, already wounded earlier by his assault. Once again he was surprised at the balance and unnaturally keen edge of Alha’s sword (1d6+2 Damage, Range 3+2=5 Damage), and it wore the Adept down almost to the point of death.

Stepping away from the Goblin, leaving it at her back, Lyra pressed her side of the assault on the badly wounded follower of Corfard, her flail slapping and ringing as it impacted (<+4 to hit, White 5), but even hurt, the Salamander was made of sterner stuff and remained upright throughout the battle.

(Brendon Wis check, +2 thief, >Red 14 – no)

Lannis had been tapping around and moving slowly from the wall (d6, 1-3 encounter something: Pink 5 – no), getting frustrated. “Where the hell is everyone? What the fuck is going on? This light in the eyes is god damned bullsh…” And even blind, his detect invisible spell was still working and he could “see” a figure, slinking into the room, sword upraised, ready to stab at the pinned thief. “Holy shit!” Lannis swore, he grabbed at his waist and pulled out the vial of red ink, pulled back, and hurled it, screaming, “Don’t hurt ME! We’ll give you money to leave!” (<+3 to hit (touch), Pink 7). The ink passed just over her head as she ducked, a few drops floating about, the bottle smashing against the wall.

“What?!” Brendon asked, looking back at the Magic User and (>+4 to hit, +4 surprise, +2 pinned, Red/Black 12) then howled in agony as a short sword plunged into his chest and a female figure in leathers rippled into appearance just over him (1d6x2 Damage: Red/Black 5x2=10 Damage!). She bent low, kissed him briefly on the mouth, and whispered to him, “Was it good for you too?” before twisting the blade and yanking it free with a smirk (Scout down to 3 hp!! Trapped under a table, Adept on table, 2nd one grabbing weapon...And Duchess).

(Initiative, Party Steel 6 vs Enemy Red/Black 2)
