PBEM - Episode 308. Vault, Snakes, Guardian(s).

THREE HUNDRED EIGHT

(I/C)

“Hey!” Kovid barked, “Where do you think you’re going?” He beat upon the Guardian, hammer flailing about, cracking against the barrier of black energy surrounding it, sparks flying (<+5 to hit, Yellow 9). But he couldn’t land more than some glancing blows, rocking the undead in its place, but not enough to put it down.

“I think he might be upset with us,” Lannis noted, swapping to the Ishtari Rod and taking aim. The Guardian saw the wizard from the side of its eye, all the while still tracking Brendon who was dancing his way through the back of the party hoping to get to Abraxas. He fired off the darts (d3+1 Darts: Pink 1: 1+1=2 Darts. <+6 to hit, Pink 8..<+6 to hit, Pink 1 – FUMBLE! 1-2 Lose weapon, 3-4 1 hp damage, 5-6 stunned. Pink 6 – Stunned 1 round), one of them hitting the zombie in the chest and bouncing off, making it snarl and turn to face the magic user, and the second was met with a lucky backswing, ricocheting off the Guardian’s wristguard and slamming into Lannis’ neck! The magic user doubled over choking, stunned from the hit (-1 to AC, can’t attack next round).

“Close your eyes and pretend it’s all a bad dream,” Brendon offered while sneaking around, “that’s how I get by.” He skipped past Wyn and Lyra and then dove for Abraxas’ Scythe, hoping to pluck it out of the Fighter’s hand (2 handed weapon, Strength check needed: >Red 15), but found himself wrestling with it instead, cursing, “Not today, Squidward!”

“You are a strange duck,” Wyn noted, seeing the Guardian coil itself to leap at the Scout.

“Ducchhshs,” Lannis moaned, trying to cough. “Wanna hear ‘bout ‘em?”

“Busy, Monsieur!” Setting himself for a run, he moaned, “Dis be my worst idea, yet.” And then he ran, arms wide, shoulder down, legs pumping (<Str check, BX Baby tackle -2, White 5 – yes!), he threw himself at the undead (>+3 to hit base AC, Orange 14), struck it hard from the flank (Combative Str check: +2 bonus BX Baby tackle Orange 11 (beat by 4) vs White 18 (even) – Elf wins), driving the Guardian to the ground, the elf on top, headbutting the zombie in the chin. “Da name’s Wyn, ya gator scat smellin putain! Remeber iiiiiit!”

The two of them struggled on the floor, the elf doing his damndest to keep the zombie down.

(Initiative: Party Steel 1 vs Guardian Red/black 5)

Hoping to turn the tide of the grapple, “Corfard damn you,” it hissed, beating and scratching at the elf, twisting and pushing (Combative Str check: Guardian Black 8 (beat by 10) vs Wyn Teal 11 (beat by 2) – Guardian wins), Wyn found himself gripped hard by the sides bu the undead, lifted slightly off of it. It made no indication to get up, instead it coiled it’s legs under itself (<Str check, Kick off Wyn into Lannis, -2 Str, Black 13 – yes), pushed them into Wyn’s gut, and SHOVED (>+8 to hit, Red/Black 9), the elf soaring through the air, arms windmilling.

“No!” Lannis managed to gasp, hands out as the elf slammed into him (1d8 Damage divided in half on each: Red/Black 8 – 4 Damage Lannis, 4 Damage Wyn), the two of them smashing into the wall, sadly the wizard might have hit the stone blocks of the castle with the side of his head. Wyn though (Elf check, land on 2 feet, -4 Dex: <White 1 – Damned yes), bounced off and curled around, landing square and ready while the magic user was still prone, the Guardian only getting as far as one knee up and kneeling.

Time now is Day 8, 7:29 AM

(OOC)

Bottom of the round. Ignore the extra dice on the bottom, I thought there was another half a round and when I came upstairs I realized it doesn’t count. Abraxas and Lyra- 9 minutes left.
