PBEM - Episode 314. Bedrooms and Adepts

THREE HUNDRED FOURTEEN

(I/C)

Working his hammer at the three around Abraxas, Kovid glanced over at Wyn and laughed. “You must feel right at home with all these frog legs around, eh elf-friend! We could have a cook out.”

Leaning forward and hoping to sight one of the Adepts who had cast a spell on himself, Wyn readied another arrow and took aim. “Oui Kovid, dough I be happy to eat dere livers as soon as we be done. Hey salamanders!” He called out. “You call dat shit spell casting!?” The one with the aura about him gave the elf a withering glower, staff upraised. “It be too bad ye god has abandoned you.”

“Corfard is with us, always!”

Wyn fired (>+6 to hit, -1 PFG, Range 3), his arrow making the Salamander duck, the missile passing over its head. Still on a roll, the elf continued his berating. “First ye high cleric loses his touch, den de fates are against him, now yer own spells ain’t working!”

Meanwhile the one that had cast the Fear spell at Lyra had come around the door and Brendon inched forward (Sense the thief? >Black 19 – hell no!) and stabbed the Adept square in the back (>+3 to hit, +4 Surprise, Red 12), the short sword slamming hard (1d6x2 Damage: Red 3x2=6 Damage!), and making the humanoid howl in pain.

“Ye all gonna die here! Fer nothing!” Wyn cried out as the battle raged

“Let us miramos si como Adept esta at dodging my Scythe!" Abraxas worked his weapon in wide arcs, keeping the crowd around him far enough out to leave them open to attacks (<+7 to hit, -4 Dam Defl, Blue 9), hitting with sparks and rings, but the Adept’s armor kept them from serious harm.

“En nothing he waiting fer you in de other side but Wyn’s butter sauce, and a big ol pot o gumbo!” Kovid was seriously plying his Hammer at the one on the right (<+6 to hit, Yellow 5), hitting again and again, but the Salamander spat at the dwarf’s face and continued fighting on.

The elf was frothing at the mouth now and continued to harangue the Salamanders. “Ye proper fucked now! Especially ye wit de glowy skin. Thinking all dat glow will protect ye? Ye god couldn’t protect his own mom! Why would he waste his time on little tadpole putain de merde likes ye?”

“Blessed Corfard will enjoy eating your guts, elfling,” the closest one retorted.

Lannis had another of his dwindling darts at the ready, shaking his head and chuckling. “Weren't these guys way tougher downstairs? Hey, why do you guys suck so much? Did we kill all the better ones already?"

Stomping his feet on the table top, Wyn finished up with a crotch thrust and a nose clearing wad of spew. “If ye tink ye spells are so proper, come at me. Or are ye skin too dry to slither ova here to chance my blade? Ye warted newt fucker!”

Pissed off that one of them dared to fire a spell at her, Lyra swung her flail angrily hoping to clear the way. “Don’t worry Lannis, I’m sure it all has something to do with this leveling up nonsense.”

The Magic User was getting ready to throw, “What would that even mean? The point of a level is to be well...level. If it went up it wouldn’t be level anymore."

“Talking to you gives me a headache,” she moaned. “Hey! Aine take you!” she swung hard (<+4 to hit, White 1 – FUMBLE! D6: 1-2 Lose wpn, 3-4 1 pt dam, 5-6 stun 1 rnd) and the Adept dodged back and then straight on punched the cleric right in the face. Her nose blossomed in pain and she staggered back a half step, stunned from the impact (-2 to AC 1 rnd).

“AHAHAHHAHAH!” Lannis laughed. “Holy shit, that’s funny! HAHAHAHA!” He hurled his missile (<+3 to hit, Pink 8), the dart smacking into the one that Brendon had back stabbed, but failed to penetrate. “Hahahahah!”

The wounded one with the Aura around him stepped forward, giving Brendon a snarl, and swapped places with one of the Adepts in the front line with Abraxas. That salamander in turn laid its hand on the wounded Adept’s back and spoke in its own language (CLW: 1d6+1, Red 1+1 = Heals 2 (ugh – so low!) ), staunching the wound and returning some of its brethren’s vitality. It then turned to face the Scout, ending his benefit of fighting in the shadows. “Infidel,” it hissed.

The other one that Wyn had been taunting also stepped forward, taking place with the Adept that had stunned Lyra. And THAT Adept turned to Lannis and raised its hands up. “Blessed Corfard will have you, Wizard.” And fired off a prayer in the Magic User’s direction. A burning white ball of light streaked over and Lannis (<Save vs Spell, Pink 9 – no! Blinded for 12 turns – 120 minutes (it does NOT stop your detect invisibility spell btw) ), hitting him in the face and then his eyes were twin pools of blazing light. “Stay out of it, Softone!”

The two closest to Lyra then swung at the stunned Cleric (<+2 to hit, +2 Stunned, White 4), the first one hitting her but her enchanted chainmail absorbed the entirety of the walloping attack. But the second Adept had a better focus and hit the Priestess (>+2 to hit, +2 stunned, White 17) with a heavy strike heard across the entirety of the battlefield (1d6+1(bless) Damage, Blue 5 – Take 5 Damage!).

This left one remaining to strike at Abraxas and although the Adept tried its best (<+2 to hit, White 10), it could not do more than raise bruises and scratches against the superior fighter.

But the two slingers in the hall each stepped a few feet closer, one of them actually in the door way, and both of them let their sling stones fly (<+2 to hit, Green 10..<+2 to hit, Teal 13), both whirling rocks cracking against Abraxas’ armor, but neither of them doing any serious damage.

(Initiative: 3 vs 3 – reroll! 1 vs 1 – Reroll again. Party Steel 3 vs Enemy Red/Black 2 – 4th time you’ve guys won Init this fight)

Time now is Day 8, 7:54 AM

(OOC)

30 Minutes Detect Invisibility, 120 minutes Light spell in Lannis’ eyes.

Lyra, stun is off this round – so you’re good to go no minuses. Bad go round last round, only 1 actual to hit and the Adept’s CLW’d some of it. 4 of them have cast their spells, meaning 3 of them still have spells to cast (not counting the sleepers): the 2 slingers and the last melee guy between Kovid and Abraxas. Top of round 4, you guys go!
