PBEM, Episode 57 - Bath, Stirges, Ape Dead

FIFTY SEVEN

(I/C)
“Elven towels,” Lannis exclaimed. “Very posh.” He bent down and picked up the dead asp, staring at it for a moment before announcing, “And I’ll be taking this too.” (Lannis: add Green towel (10), Elven soap (2), Dead snake (30))

Wyn agreed, sniffing the fragrant soap. “Oh how nice. I take a towel en a soap. I also keep key wit me in case it must be held by elf. Anyone else want towel en soap?” (Wyn: add Green towel (10), Elven soap (2), Ishtari key (2))

Abraxas had his hand out, taking one of each and joining Wyn in inhaling deeply, smiling. “Not everyday you find Elf Soap and Towels. Fine quality!” (Abraxas: add Green towel (10), Elven soap (2))

“They aren’t too big or heavy are they?” Lyra asked, weighing the fluffy towel before opening her backpack. ““Tch, I’m more of a cucumber melon kind of gal, but I guess it can’t hurt.” (Lyra: add Green towel (10), Elven soap (2))

“The scent of the soap is so refreshing,” Brendon sighed, taking one of each for himself, “and Poseidon knows I’ll always use a towel.” (Brendon: add Green Towel (10), Elven Soap (2))

Kovid only looked on with horror as the group each took one of the fragrant soaps. “Really? Really!? Ugh! Are we really all going to walk around wafting the sweet scent of elf soap everywhere we go?”

“It’s nice, Senor! Makes me feel happy and friendly, non?” Abraxas held up his towel.

“Bah,” Kovid shook his head, “The towel maybe seems to have great practical value. That I’ll take.” (Kovid: add Green towel (10))

The fighter meanwhile was humming a tune, singing softly as put his belongings away. “Tienes un amigo en mi… You’ve got a friend in me...” Looking at the next door, Abraxas glanced at his hand and then gave Brendon a sharp glare. “Señor Wyne, please lead the way for this one. I'll tackle the next door after that. Por favor amigo.”

“Si, Senor…um…Oui Monseiur.” He looked at the door, seeing nothing written on it or any markings. Brendon gave him a nod. “Okay then. Un…Deus…Trois!”

The door pushed open and the lantern light revealed a sizable chamber with a large sunken bath in the southwest corner. There were 2 DOORS in here, one on the far end of the room on the EAST wall, and another one on the closed cut out section of the EAST WALL. Over the sunken bath was a shelf mostly empty with 7 ornate looking flasks on it and a large fan made of peacock feathers. There were tiled sections of the wall showing elven men and women lying in repose, limbs naked and spread, sexual in their makeup.

However, we disturbed FIVE large birdlike creatures with leathery wings and squat hairy bodies, their beaks long and pointed. “Ah, shit!” Lannis cursed. “Stirges!”

(Initiative: Party Steel 4: Stirges Red/Black 5 – thanks Kelly!)

The stirges soared at the group, VERY fast and maneuverable. They filled the air around us as we flailed about, weapons flashing. Wyn was struck (>+1 to hit, Teal 16) by a solid buffeting blow, but instead of the stirge poking him with the beak and flying off, it tangled its SIX feet in the elf’s hair and cloak, and stabbed its beak down through his Banded Leather and into his shoulder (1d3 Damage, Green 2: Take 1 Damage). Where is STAYED there and began to suck the elf’s blood! “Ah!! Get it off!!”

Another dove for Kovid (<+1 to hit, Black 11) but was rebuffed by his platemail armor and scrampered off to fly around for another go. A third tried to his Abraxas (<+1 to hit, Green 3) but the fighter got his shield up in time and shoved the beast away. “Go! Go!”

A fourth (Random target: White 5 – Lannis!) stayed high long enough to target the Magic User who screamed very loud and shrill, holding his robe closed over his chest as the stirge plowed into him (>+1 to hit, Red/Black 17), tangled its feet in his clothing, and drove its been deep into his side near his kidney (1d3 Damage, Pink/White 3: take 2 Damage). And like Wyn, it stayed on the wizard and proceeded to SUCK!

The fifth (Random target: White 3 – Abraxas!) joined its brethren and dove at the Fighter, (<+1 to hit, Green/red 3) scratching his cheek but no real damage as it too was driven high. “Hey! Bastardo!”

Time now is 9:31

(OOC)
Stirges – if they are ON someone and you swing to hit – their AC is less but damage done to them will be split and shared with whoever they sit on. Unless you use a small weapon (dagger or the like) or try to grab them off (unarmed attack). If they are flying, they are harder to hit. Right now Wyn and Lannis each have a stirge on them. Any stirge that is NOT taken off or killed will auto hit the next turn for 1d3 damage.

Bottom of round 1. Up to you guys!
