PBEM - Episode 210. Jailer, Hoots, CC, and Goo.

TWO HUNDRED TEN

(I/C)

"Everybody back up!” Lannis called out, hands spraying sparks and he began chanting. “I have a plan that Brendon is going to hate."

Seeing the Magic User was looking at the Scout and the elf recognizing the spell being cast, his brows rose up as he nocked another arrow and started skipping backwards, the rest of the group following alike.“Oh, dat be an interestin’ work around, Offop. Bravo. Hope it works!”

“Don’t compliment him,” Lyra replied, readying the Flail for a burst of attacks. “His ego goes to his head and I doubt it can get ANY bigger.”

Wrapping up the spell, watching the Crawler make its way closer to the party, Lannis retorted, “Egos don't take up physical space and thus could grow to infinite size. That said, my ego is normal sized at worst, likely much smaller than normal." His fingers flashed with a coursing of power and he shouted out, “ZU!” as the smell of rose petals blew out and the spell struck…Brendon!

(4d4 hd: 3+1+1+2 = 7) The Scout was wheezing and whimpering and then while paralyzed, fell asleep, and the radiant spell flew out hit Goo…and the Crawler didn’t stop at all.

“Merde!” Wyn cursed, drew back, and fired (<+5 to hit, Orange 3), the arrow going just over the Crawler’s back and lost down the hall in the darkness.

"Nice try, Big Brain,” Kovid sighed, spinning one of his normal warhammers and arcing it back over his shoulder. “Don't let it eat Brendon folks!" and HURLED (<+2 to hit, Yellow 13) cracking into the Crawler and briefly making it rear up, but it landed on its many jointed legs and let fly a spray of spittle as it continued its approach.

Having one of his stone tipped Javelins poised, Abraxas looked at Lannis and shrugged. "Señor Leinsis, lo siento, perhaps you need to turn your majik off and then on again?" He let the short spear fly (<+4 to hit, Blue 9) cracking against Goo’s shell but not penetrating.

“That’s not how it works!”

“He did at least put Brendon to sleep, so the spell technically did work.” Lyra waited to the last moment and then as the Crawler drew close, stepped out and swung the flail around, cracking it against Goo’s side with a silvery sounding CLANG. (>+1 to hit, White 17) “Whohoo!” she cheered as the Crawler pitched over, tentacles briefly going limp (1d6+1+1-1 Damage, White 5 – 6 Damage!). It righted itself and moved into attack position, the Cleric and Dwarf closest to it as it slapped and smacked its own tentacles against the two of them.

(Attacks on Lyra, +3 to hit: >15, =13, <7, <6) Lyra ducked and dodged, shield raised to block, the tentacles smacking against her legs and torso where they got past her defenses (2 Saves vs Petrif/Poly: >White 17, and >White 18). But the Cleric fought through the nerve agent that was spraying about and continued to rain blows on the Crawler.

(Attacks on Kovid, +3 to hit: <11, <9, >16, >15) The Dwarf though had readied another hammer and was also trying to get a blow on the Crawler as its flailing tentacles cracked like hail on a tin roof against his platemail. He grunted in surprise as one caught him blindly on the face (2 Saves vs Petrif/Poly: >Red/Green 20). “Ha! Tastes faintly like berries,” he joked as he fought on (<Yellow 2) but a flashing smack near his neck had the residue freeze the dwarf in his tracks, hammer upraised and paralyzed (Kovid Paralyzed 50 minutes).

“Fucking bullshit!” Lannis cursed, mentally tallying his diminishing repertoire of spells.

“Oy... I tink dis be just like cookin’ up a gumbo ov dire crawdads... ,” Wyn mused. “If yah stab em in da brains just right, de meat get niiiice en tender. Not dat I’d recommend eatin dis ting, but lets killt it dead, oui?

“It’s ok,” Lyra replied confidently. “There are 4 of us and I’ve proven that it can be hit and hurt. By Aine, let’s do this!”

(Initiative: Party Steel 2 vs Enemy Red/Black 4)

“And there it is,” Lannis sighed. “This year is just the worst.”

Goo pressed forward, its tentacles now capable of hitting both Lyra and Abraxas – the two of them plying weapons to hit it and blocking what blows they can. (Attacks on Lyra, +3 to hit: >19, <5, <6, <11) This time Lyra was better able to deflect as many of the attacks as possible, but a rather heavy hit on her leading leg had a heavy dose of slime get through her pants and touch her skin (Save vs Petrif/Poly: <White 2) and she frowned as her limbs froze up, cursing just once, “Damn it,” before unable to move (Lyra Paralyzed for 50 minutes).

(Attacks on Abraxas, +3 to hit: >18, <7, <4, <7) The Fighter grunted as he brought his Scythe about, knocking tentacles aside as he struggled to get it lined up for a barrage of attacks. However before he could do so, he could feel some of the residue land cooly on his exposed skin (Save vs Petrif/Poly: >Blue 14) but it didn’t stop him as he finally was ready for his assault. “Hokay! It’s time we take you down!”

Time now is Day 6, 12:15 PM

(OOC)
