PBEM - Episode 209. Jailer, Hoots, CC, and Goo.

TWO HUNDRED NINE

(I/C)

(WMC: Red/Black 3 – none!)

"The lizard. Focus on the lizard-man!" Kovid called out, muscles straining as he tried to keep the Jailer from thrashing free.

"Let's finish this odorous villain,” Abraxas called, “then we can focus on Hoots. It is a shame, he is a beautiful beast, but he is also a savage creature. Let's do what we must amigos."

And then Han shot…and then WYN shot the Jailer first. “I’ve been lookin’ forward to dis for a long time,” he grumbled (>+5 to hit, Orange 20 –Critical, Max Damage 6 and killed!) as he drilled his arrow into the Trog’s face, less than 9” from Kovid’s arm.

“Cutting it close there, elf?” he asked with a raised brow as he stepped back from the slumping Troglodyte.

“Monsieur Dwarffriend, if I wanted to, I could shave your eyebrows at Huit paces if need be.”

Meanwhile Lannis had been channeling another spell, arcane energy flowing off his wrists as he focused on the screaming Owlbear. "This can’t possibly fail twice, right guys? There is no possible way this can possibly fail twice. Things are going our way! Sure there's a scary tentacle faced monster but the centipede is dead, right?" At that he fired off another pink spray of magic at the Owlbear (<Save vs Spells, Red/Black 12 – failed!) where it sort of slowed down and stopped to think about what it was doing.

“Thor’s nuts, you made it son!” Kovid cheered.

Wyn drew his sword and shield and slid around Lyra who was heading towards the fallen Trog. “Priestess! Get behind me! Those probing tentacles could paralyze you...”

She bent down to claim the Flail, calling back, “I’d keep your distance from Goo you guys. I don’t think it’s going to act anything like a pet.” As she touched it, she could feel the magical energy of the silvered weapon through the palm of her hand. It made a sine wave against her holy symbol as the two forces were at odds, and then it shifted and she felt good holding it as well as good from her Goddess for her taking it. “Oh. Oh my!” she said with a smile, holding the Lolthian Flail aloft, the flanged head dangling off the chain. (Add: Lolthian Flail, Silvered +1 Magic [50] to Magical Items in your inventory. Flail for you is: @ +1 (1d6+1+1-1 Damage). Flails ignore shields if someone is holding one.)

The hall was crowded though with the Carrion Crawler, the Owlbear, Abraxas, Wyn, and Brendon on the other end of the melee so Kovid and Lyra couldn’t close to Goo to attack. “Don’t hit the Owlbear!” Lannis advised. “Please!”

“Si Senor!” Abraxas replied, Scythe whipping around as he assaulted the carapaced Crawler (<+6 to hit -2 nausea, Blue 3) but the crazed monster was too fast and dodged the constant slashed and loping arcs from the silver weapon. “Stand still, Pendejo!”

“Goo! Goo!” Brendon sighed, “Why do this?!” the Crawler’s tentacles were flailing all over as it tried to hit anyone around it, the Scout included. “I would have been a good parent. Oh well!” He slashed with his blade (<+1 to hit -2 nausea, Red 11) but it bounced off its tough exterior and failed to penetrate.

(1-3 attack north, 4-6 attack south: White 3 – Attack north) The Crawler doubled back on itself and its pink tentacles flailed wildly, slapping like fleshy whips against Brendon and the Owlbear! “I said DON’T hit the Owlbear!” Lannis cried out.

(Attacks on Brendon: @ +3, <9, <3, <10, >16) The Scout tried to duck and dodge, his gold ring adding some speed to his limbs as the Crawler slammed and slapped about him, and although he either dodged them or they struck his armor and were ineffective, enough did hit him that he felt the sting of their touch and then (<Save vs Petrif/Poly, Red 7) with a painful wrenching, his limbs froze in place, paralyzing the Scout!

(Attacks on Hoots: +3, +4(paused) >9, <2, <5, >18) In addition, Goo’s tentacles had the same effect on the Owlbear, hitting him and releasing him from his Pause with an ear splitting “ROOOOHAAAA!” but the mighty Ursine slowed down (<Save vs Petrif/Poly, Steel 2 and <Steel 11) and he too was Paralyzed in mid scream. (Paralyze time: 2d4 Turns: 2+3 – 5 turns or 50 minutes).

“Great!” Lannis whooped. “Exactly what I wanted to have happen!” Goo then turned to the south to face off against Abraxas and Wyn, tentacles raised and spittle flying from its churning maw. “That on the other hand wasn’t in my notes.”

(Initiative: Party Steel 3 vs Monster Black/Red 3 – tie, reroll. Party Steel 6 vs Monster Black/Red 6 – tie, reroll. Party Steel 3 vs Monster Red/Black 2 – Party wins! Start of Round 4)

Time now is Day 6, 12:14 PM

(OOC)

O/B and Brendon Paralyzed right now. You guys have Initiative. Only Abr and Wyn can melee it right now. Lyra, Kovid, and Lannis are right behind. If you want to hit Hoots, it’s an automatic hit at full damage – NOT a coup de gras – cannot CDG a paralyzed creature. Just an FYI. Good luck!
