PBEM - Episode 339. Wedges, Doors, On the Move.

THREE HUNDRED THIRTY NINE

(I/C)

“Thor’s Balls,” Kovid swore, heading to the door to open it, “I guess we’re doing this.”

“De bad guys are too close,” Wyn said.

Brendon stood up the fallen night stand, nodding in agreement. “We have a dozen Roberts, maybe 2 harpies.”

“De panther Piddles, an de wizardess Mirabelis,” the elf added, picking up the two yarn balls.

“That Grimtooth guy with the elven head fetish,” Lannis added.

“And Duchess and her 8 count of goblins out there as well,” Lyra finished up.

“So fighting all the known forces,” the dwarf shook his head. “No thanks.” He looked at his Theystran hammer and squinted. “Alright lady, what’d ya say you and Thor have our backs one more time? Protect us from the possible shit storm on the other side of this door.”

“You cracking on us?” Lannis asked, “Hammers can’t talk.”

“Monsieur Offop, afore you called dibs I figgered I would offer you one,” Wyn held out one of the balls of yarn to the magic user. “Figgered dere is a chance dey connected to de cat due to de frayed edges.”

The wizard looked down at the ball and then up at the elf. “Um, no. I definitely don’t want it now that the chance to call dibs has been removed from my options.”

Wyn shrugged and offered it to Brendon who took it with a nod (each of you add Ball of yarn [5] to inventory – each would be about 300 feet if unrolled). Lyra clucked her tongue, “You guys better hope the yarn’s owner doesn’t notice it’s gone and figures out this is the way we went.”

“Most likely the cat and the wizard,” Brendon shrugged. “So I hope it inconveniences both of them.”

Getting the thumbs up from Abraxas that we were still ok, the Fighter crossed back across the chamber as Kovid opened the door and led the party into the next room. It was an odd shaped chamber, the entire east side of it was at a 45 degree angle and there were two large Glassstone windows each with a long wooden bench situated in front of it. To the west was a door partially open leading to the hall beyond where in the distance we could hear the echoing sounds of hobgoblin voices talking. In the middle of the south wall was an archway that led to a larger dark chamber where the smell of goblin and maybe corruption was a bit strong, but it was quiet as no one was in there at this time.

An alcove to the north wall revealed a hand carved bookcase with a smattering of scrolls and hardbound books on it as well as small boxes and what seemed to be woven bracelets and necklaces made of long grasses and reeds. Along the long end of the room heading to the southeast you could make out a single chair, stuffed and wing backed, comfortable appearance, and a bed with a ruffled duvet and too many soft pillows against its head board. A statue of an elven child with a dove was near the bed, well carved but not a figure that might have been victim to a medusa in the past.

Lannis smiled as he looked around. “Yeah, THIS is the room I first saw Duchess in early in the morning.”

Abraxas had shut the door to the north room closed and pointed to the west door that was ajar. “Senors and Senoras. Either we move on or we shut that door if at all possible.”

Brendon glanced at the western door and nodded. “It’s got a lock on it, but no key. Might not mean shit since there is an open archway over here,” he pointed, “and this door has no lock on it,” he tapped the door we had entered the room from, “But anyone in the hall might be slowed down if you want me to lock it.”

“We staying or moving on?” Kovid asked.

Time now is Day 8, 11:42 AM

(OOC)

Alright! Found Duchess’ room. Up to you guys if you want to just note it and move on or spend time to look around. Discuss and let me know.
