PBEM, Episode 154 - Guardians and Rats

 ONE HUNDRED FIFTY FOUR

(I/C)

Wyn gritted his teeth, "We need to figure out how dis room be laid out... where de statue is...”

“If it is in the same place as before, it’s on the table in the corner, Senor,” Abraxas said.

Brendon stopped moving forward, looking back at Kovid, “I lack the skills for a straight up fight against these Guardians.”

The dwarf stepped ahead of the Scout, nodding to Lyra, the two of them stepping up about 10 paces and then stopped still in the hall where the Guardians numbers would be limited. “Make a shield wall, Monsieur and Priestess!”

She had Lannis’ rod up and ready, shield held firm. Lannis clapped her on the shoulder, hands waving as he began his spell. “Ah... thanks Lannis,” Lyra said, “I’ll be sure to uh... return this to you in one piece. Andwashmyhandsimmediatlyafter.”

He was aiming for the lead one who was stepping closer, "No problem uh...horse...joke...face...uh...Lyra. Let's get stuck in. IN BET GRAV!” The air before him tore open and a pink dart ripped through (1d4 Damage, Pink 4!) and then burst against the lead Guardian, burning a hole in the middle of its chest. “Booyah!”

“Ahhh,” it moaned, shuffling closer, 3 others following along, “We shall drink your pain.”

Near the rear, watching behind the group, Scythe out and torn on what to do, Abraxas hissed, "I'll wait here and watch the rear. If you need me, llamas me."

The sound of the Guardians marching closer was chilling to the soul. “Ahh,” the other 4 growled, “We shall drink your pain.”

“Hold fast, Lass,” Kovid said, hammer ready, Lyra doing the same with the rod.

Getting a sick feeling, Wyn tapped the Fighter and said, “Monsieur Salazar, I will guard en listen to de back fer now. Iffin you cen come closer to de front, mayhaps you cen attack next!”

“Si, Senor, let’s move.” The two of them swapped positions, the party tense and the Guardians drew closer and closer…

And were close enough to hit the group…and be hit! “Now!” Kovid roared, Theystra Hammer swinging a silver line through the air. It cracked (=+3 to hit, Yellow 9) against the lead one that Lannis had already struck (1d8+2 Damage, Yellow 7 – 9 Damage!) and smashed its chest in as it beat at the group.

Lyra swung the Rod in a wide arc, aiming for its head (>+1 to hit, White 16) where it struck with a flash of silver (1d4+1 Damage, +1 Magic, -1 Strength, White 3 – 4 Damage and killed!!) where she smashed its head open and sent brain matter slamming against the wall. “Aine!” she cried out in joy.

However the undead had struck at the same time (party held action and waited), the lead one hitting Lyra (>+4 to hit, Red/Black 20 – Critical – Max Damage – 8 Damage!!) and driving the Cleric to her knees with the sound of slamming metal and pummeling hits. And Kovid (<+4 to hit, Black 5) was too struck but the dwarf was able to turn the blow with his shield and keep his feet, sparing a glance at Lyra and shouldering the closest Guardian back half a step, helping her up. “To your feet, Lass. Don’t let them force you down.”

As the one Guardian finally fell over, light in its eyes went dark, the nearest on shuddered and a glow seemed to suffuse through it. Baring its teeth in a parody of a grin, the foe in front of Kovid growled with newfound menace, “Cut one of us down, Corfard bolsters the remaining.”

And the same shuddering ran through the other 3 in the room. “Cut one of us down, Corfard bolsters the remaining.”

“Well…shit.” Lannis sighed. “Hey, Abraxas! Time to earn your dinner!”

Time now is Day 5, 7:06 AM

(OOC)

New round, party auto wins initiative.

Any damage, scrapes, or hurts on the remaining Guardians are STILL there, they did NOT go away. But they do seem to be a bit more confident.

Look at picture, Lyra has 9 pts damage, down to 13/22.

You’re up!
